InterControl delivered an electric vehicle charging solution to Lassila & Tikanoja, enabling the operation of electric waste collection trucks in the Turku region. InterControl was responsible for providing the charging solution for depot use, where reliability, efficiency, and scalability are key requirements for electric fleet operations.
High power charging solution for heavy vehicles
At the Turku site, a European Alpitronic Hypercharger high-power charging system was selected. Its 400 kW output significantly reduces charging times and increases fleet utilization. Two vehicles can be charged simultaneously at 200 kW each, with dynamic load management ensuring efficient power distribution between the vehicles. This solution is ideal for electric waste trucks, where operational efficiency directly impacts daily operations.
Autocharge enables smooth depot charging
The charging solution is integrated with the Ocean back-end system, enabling centralized management and reporting of charging sessions. The system also supports future updates and remote monitoring, helping maintain operational reliability and allowing controlled development of the charging infrastructure.
The charging station features Autocharge, which automatically recognizes the connected vehicle and starts charging immediately without the need for a mobile app or RFID tag. This simplifies the charging process and saves time in environments where efficient vehicle turnaround is critical.
Customer-specific solution for the future
InterControl delivered a custom-configured and branded charging station to the depot. Our company’s technical expert carried out on-site commissioning and trained the staff in its use. During the construction of the charging infrastructure, a transformer was also installed to allow for future expansion of charging stations as the number of electric vehicles grows. The infrastructure was built by contractor Bravida Finland, with the transformer provided by Turku Energia to meet Lassila & Tikanoja’s requirements.
