InterControl supplied Kosken Liikenneasema with a fast charging solution designed to be cost-effective, easy to manage, and support the company’s business operations.
A charging point with card payment
Kosken Liikenneasema manages, rents out, and maintains commercial properties along Koskentie in Finland. Thanks to its good location, the service station is expanding its services by offering fast charging to both visiting customers and drivers passing by.
The charging station works as a standalone service point. This makes charging simple and means that no separate charging operator is needed to manage the system. It also offers a cost-effective alternative to solutions that rely on an external operator’s app or service platform for charging and payments.
The HYC50 fast charger with customer-specific settings
The solution is based on the Alpitronic HYC50 fast charger, which provides 50 kW DC charging. The unit has two CCS charging connectors, allowing two vehicles to charge simultaneously, with the available power distributed according to the charging situation. With an efficiency of around 97.5%, the charger reduces heat loss and helps lower energy costs.
In addition to supplying the charging unit, InterControl was responsible for integrating the Payter payment terminal, configuring customer-specific settings, and commissioning the system.
InterControl configured the settings to meet the specific needs of the site. These included the charging unit’s user interface, payment screens, and receipt display. This allowed the user interface to be set up before the charging station was installed.
Charging infrastructure ready for future expansion
Before the project, Kosken Liikenneasema had no electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Implementing the charging system therefore also required an upgrade to the site’s electrical capacity to meet the needs of the charging infrastructure. The electrical contractor was responsible for upgrading the electrical capacity.
The system was designed with future expansion in mind. The infrastructure was prepared for two charging units, and the first was installed and put into use straight away. A second unit can be added later when demand increases.
